Program Description:
Welcome to SU Abroad in Hong KongHong Kong, which was returned to China in 1997 after more than 150 years as a British Crown Colony, is fascinating interweave of seeming cinating interweave of seeming opposites: bobbing fishing junks alongside luxury yachts; shimmering skyscrapers beside pagodas; state-of-the-art shopping complexes and alleyway market stalls. With its mixture of Western and Eastern values, culture and traditions, Hong Kong is an ideal gateway to China and all of Asia. What You Need to KnowSyracuse University's Hong Kong program offers you the opportunity to study the political economies, business, and cultures of East Asia at a pivotal moment in the region's history. As Hong Kong continues to move forward as a Special Administrative Region (SAR) of the People's Republic of China, students not only study–but also participate within–a political landscape and marketplace that will be as important to the 21st century as the U.S. was to the 20th.Campus and ProgramThe Syracuse academic program, hosted by City University of Hong Kong, is designed to allow students to complete 12-14 credit hours of coursework in economics, political science, history, Chinese (Mandarin), or business. City U offers 80 Bachelor and Associate degrees as well as 50 post-graduate programs. The University is known for its professional programs that combine real world experience with research and study. Extensive field study and intensive internships are key components of the modular academic program.City University is located in Kowloon Tong, an affluent residential district that has a lower population density than other places in Hong Kong. With MTR and KCR railway stations stops at City Us campus, its easy to connect to the other districts of Hong Kong.Important Note for Non-US CitizensUnder Hong Kong governmental regulations, nationals of Afghanistan, Albania, Cambodia, Cuba, Laos, Korea (Democratic Peoples' Republic of ), Nepal and Vietnam are not eligible to apply for student visas and therefore cannot participate in the SU Hong Kong program.  Mainland Chinese and Taiwanese citizens can apply, but visas applications may take longer and require additional documents.  Please apply before the deadline to allow proper time for visa processing. Additional Information: Be sure to check out the "Cost & Financial Aid" page for information on special aid and scholarships available to students wishing to study in Hong Kong!
